Is a Bike Build Team Building Activity Suitable for Small Teams?
The Power of Small Actions: Every Bike Makes a Difference
When considering a Build A Bike Team-Building Event, many small teams wonder: “Can our small group really make an impact?”
The answer is a resounding YES!
Just like a single seed can grow into a stunning flower, a single bike can transform a child’s life.
Consider the Daffodil Garden in Running Springs, California. One woman began planting daffodil bulbs one at a time on a mountainside. Over the years, those small, consistent efforts blossomed into a breathtaking display of over one million daffodils—a landscape of stunning beauty and color that inspired thousands of visitors each year.
Her story is a powerful reminder that small, repeated actions create incredible impact over time.
A Bike Build Team-Building Event works the same way.
One bike, one child, one act of giving—it all adds up.
Build a Bike. Help a Child. Every bike makes a difference.
Whether your team builds one bike or ten or one hundred, each one opens the door to unlimited feelings of joy, independence, and opportunity for a child in need.
Over the past three decades, with help from partners like you, we have given children more than 30,000 bikes (and 10,000 trikes). One by one, the impact grows and grows.
And each bike doesn’t just impact one child—it impacts their entire family, letting them know that strangers care and sending a wave of connection, empathy, and gratitude into the world. And it doesn’t stop there. Each bike is passed on after a few years to a brother, sister, or friend, meaning each bike impacts up to five additional children and their families over the years.

Small Team Success Story: Transformation in Just a Few Hours
A small team of just nine employees reached out to us. They had been going through internal challenges, leadership changes, and communication struggles.
Two team members—both of whom were critical to ongoing success—were constantly in conflict, battling day in and day out. It was distracting them from getting things done and driving them both crazy (not to mention frustrating the rest of the team).
They wanted a team-building event and called about doing something fun and interactive. They also loved the idea of charity and giving back.
When we asked them what their goals were, they shared the team dynamics and ongoing problems. We suggested that a Bike Build would be the perfect culmination for their event and that they needed expert-facilitated training to improve communication, eliminate conflicts, and teach the team to take command of their emotions—rather than just reacting in a never-ending cycle of button-pushing
They agreed immediately, and we planned their offsite as soon as possible to fix the problems right away and get them the results they needed.
From the start, our expert facilitator guided them through powerful leadership and communication exercises, focusing on emotional intelligence and the keys to effective workplace collaboration.
During one of the exercises, the two team members who had been in constant conflict had a breakthrough moment—they suddenly understood the root of their past miscommunication and resolved their issues almost instantly. They realized that it wasn’t them personally in conflict, but their patterns, habits, and emotional triggers.
As the learning continued, the energy in the room shifted.
When they began assembling their bikes, the entire team was laughing, helping, and celebrating with each other.
When the big reveal came—that the bikes were being donated to kids in need—the team was overcome with joy and emotion. They realized they had not only strengthened their relationships as colleagues but had also made a real difference in the lives of children.
One participant summed it up perfectly: “We came in as nine individuals, with big problems and big conflicts, but we’re leaving as one unified team… Knowing we are in command of our thoughts, feelings, and actions.”
This is the power of a Platinum Bike Build Team-Building Event—even for the smallest of teams.
